need advice on the tough decision between MIT and Caltech. I got funding for both schools, so I am not really worried about the money, but wonder which school will get me further. Does MIT really have a bigger name than Caltech in EE?

I've spoken with a couple profs. whom were both in your position (Cal Tech Vs. MIT), both chose Cal Tech. One of them (applied physics Ph.D. w/MSE background working as MSE) said the environment at MIT was super competitive while Cal Tech seemed to be more personalized... The other prof. is a Ph.D. in Chem and works in MSE. Hope this helps and best of luck!

One thing you might want to consider is the drop-out rate for each program. I don't know about Caltech, but I heard that at MIT only about 25% of the EE PhD candidates pass their quals. Something to consider!
