iamamyrmidon Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Dear friends, I hope all of you are well. Here is my conundrum: I applied to quite a few PhD in English programs (I will be working in Eighteenth-Century British Literature). After a few acceptances and a lot of rejections, I have dwindled my options to two schools: Fordham University and University of Massachusetts Amherst. Again, my field of study is 18th Century British Literature. I am confused as to which school I should go to. I live in NYC so Fordham would be closer but UMass is ranked higher. The funding is pretty much the same. I would really appreciate any insight and information regarding this matter.
ltam Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Unless you want to save money through living with family you may have in NYC or are attached (in a relationship), it sounds like it's worth going to Amherst.
