bhosage Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I need some advice. I've been accepted into the 40th ranked MHA program, however, I've always had my sight set on NYU's MPA program. My gpa is a sub par 2.9. Is it worth even applying to NYU, or should i wait to get my first semester graduate grades back to try to transfer to NYU
Hank Scorpio Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 It's almost always worth applying. It's impossible to know all the circumstances that surround the applications the department receives. Someone may get rejected one year, but be at the top of the pile the next. Also, the most important parts of a grad school application are the letters of recommendation, the statement of interest, and, if the dept. requires it, the writing sample. But the biggest part is having really strong letter of recommendation. My cumulative GPA was 2.4 or so, but I got into an excellent MA program with lots of funding. It's worth a shot!
