Offered Admission then Rejected!!?

Hello,

my gf had applied Cal state long beach for Grad school for psychology. She was on the wait list and then was accepted but she had not said yes to admission yet. She was going to today and then the director of the program emailed her and said they are no longer offering her admission.

Are they allowed to do that?

Depends on what information she received with the offer of admission. If it she had been given a time limit and they had not heard from her or perhaps they think she received information that they didn't, etc. It's hard to know, you haven't really posted much in terms of details. If she's interested she should be going in to talk to them regardless....maybe pretend that she didn't receive the email?

The deadline isn't till next week and she was going to accept the offer today. There wasn't any other conditions that I know of that came with the offer, besides the normal let us know by the deadline.

That is what is really confusing. But since it is Friday, she is going to have to wait till Monday to talk to someone to get it sorted out.

Has she tried e-mailing the DGS, even considering that it is Friday? I would not wait to initiate an inquiry about this? However, make sure to be polite and respectful, not accusatory. It will not be productive to ask them if they are "allowed" to do this, although I can certainly sympathize with your wondering that.
