thingsandorders Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Hello friends, I am an incoming graduate student for fall 2012. I have received my stipend info. And as I have had a long experience following your chats concerning stipends, I have seen that everybody's notions of being able to live or not differs. So I would like to ask graduate students at UConn directly. If you are enrolled right now, can you live on your stipend which is: 19.383 this year with a highly subsidized health insurance and with a summer funding which is 1.734 for less hours a week and for 6 weeks in summer only. One grad student graduating this year told me that I can. What do you do? Do you need extra money or can you live with the amount if you are careful? Best, ...
NYScholars Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 We would need more information. It really depends on the state and city due to cost of living. $19k in NYC has a different purchasing power compare to Ohio.
