d34dc4t Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 (edited) Does anyone have experience going from an unrelated undergrad major into journalism school? I went to art school (I graduated 2 years ago with a good gpa) and since then I've been working in an unrelated field. If I have a good writing portfolio, and do a few internships to get experience/writing credits, do I have a shot at getting into j-school? I was the editor of my school newspaper in high school, but I'm assuming grad schools don't really care about that. I live in New York and I don't want to move, so that means I'd be applying to CUNY, NYU, and Columbia... Also- I have a lot of tattoos. Nothing embarrassing or indecent. Will this be a problem? I'm interested in print, not broadcast. Are there any heavily tattooed journalists out there? Thanks! and congrats to everyone who got in this year : ) Edited May 14, 2012 by d34dc4t
