tempura Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Hi all, I posted this in the chemistry forum as well, but seeing as it's likely that very different people view the two forums, I wanted to get some more opinions. So, I just finished my sophomore year, and my major is mostly chemistry. Although that is my major, and that is the area I'm mostly planning on taking classes in, since my research has been in materials science, and is where I work, I wanted to apply to graduate school in materials science instead of chemistry. Does anyone know how this works out? Here are some questions I have: -Will graduate schools care that I am not officially a "materials science" major? Since I'm still planning on continuing as a chemistry major (and physics), should I continue down chemistry courses, or take more "direct" materials science courses? -What courses in materials science should everybody take? Applied mathematics? Computer Science? Thanks all!
ankurshah Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 the transition should be.. material science studies will deal a lot wth chemistry... i guess taking few extra engg math courses would ur course.. cos at the end of the day is nothing but applied math... also.. usualy all the school takes in application from phy chem chem.Engg, mech.engg student...
