LeavingLV Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Here is my situation: I am scheduled to graduate with my undergrad degree in Summer 2013. Can I apply to start in Fall 2013 or do I need to wait until I actually have my degree to send in my application? If so, I will have to wait an entire year until I start after I graduate. A little background, I am 28 and I have been working as a paralegal for the past 8 years. I also currently have an internship as a Behavioral Analyst which I am working at 15 hours a week. So I do have some professional and social work experience. Will it be frowned upon that I have not completed all of my UD classes? If I were to apply, I would have 7 classes remaining at the time I turn my application in. Thanks for the input. I am just ready to move out of Las Vegas and move on with my life.
Physwimic Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Yes, you can apply without having fully completed your ugrad degree. Schools require that you will have completed the degree prior to enrolling, which you will. They may ask in the application what classes you will take prior to graduation so they know what background you will have, and obviously they will require satisfactory marks in your remaining courses.
finance89 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 You definitely shouldn't wait, applying several months before graduation is very common. In these cases, the graduate school gives the applicant a "conditional offer." The main condition is usually meeting a specific CGPA requirement at graduation. Best of luck to you!
LeavingLV Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 Thanks, looking at the application requirements, I have noticed that a few schools expect you to be done in Spring, such as CSU-Fullerton. So I guess I won't be applying to those this go-around.
TakeruK Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Just a note -- many rules can be bent if you talk to the right people. If you find a school that you are really interested in but it seems like they expect you to be done in Spring, just write them an email and ask about what you can do.
