thinkingfuture Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Hi All, I'm sure this question has been posed before, so apologies for my redundancies, but am looking for some advice before I launch into the prep for the GRE, applications, etc. I have a few years of work in a top advertising agency under my belt, mostly working on global accounts with a focus in sustainability. During my time, I've become more drawn to the larger themes of social and environmental policy, of which business is a component, but I find myself looking for a more holistic education. Am thinking about the MPP route, but wondering if it is realistic for someone with my background. BA in History, one class in macroecon and one in statistics (passed out of math with AP Calculus). Internships in public sector during college. Very high GPA - haven't taken GRE yet. Any advice is hugely appreciated Thanks!
method Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 An all private sector background will not be a problem. Instead of thinking about your how your past will affect the MPP route, spend more time thinking about how the MPP will affect your future career. What role do you want regarding social and environmental policy? What educational backgrounds do people with that role have? If you're seeing a lot of MPP degrees, you're in good shape.
