from UK Undergraduate to American PHD

Hi, Im a Chinese undergraduate student in University of Sheffield, a UK university. Im planing to apply for PHD program this year. I hope to know more about the reputation of UK universities and acceptance statistic in America, but it seems that few students here are from UK and most of my calssmates want to stay in UK for their further education. Can anyone tell me something about UK universities' recognition and standing in America? I really do not know which class I am in and which universities I should apply.

Rank of my univeristy in UK : overall: TOP20; my major: TOP5 according to TIMES newspaper

Major: Electrical Engineering

GPA : 78% Rank: 4/84 (converted to American GPA : 3.7~4.0)

GRE: V153 Q167 AW3.5

TOEFL: Waive

Working experience: none

Research experience: two conference EI paper, Im the only writer

2 Independent project (university level) . One is to make a power supply. Another is

to make a speech recoginition device.
