Need feedback on your opinion of US MPH programs

Hi guys,

I am looking into getting my MPH soon, but am just now beginning my research into programs. I was wondering if you all could give me some feedback about schools you have applied to and/or attended. I currently live in the Southeast, and am interested in staying here but I'm also interested in learning about programs outside the region. I was wondering if any of you could help answer a few questions so I can begin to look more in depth into various schools.

1. What do you consider the most important factors in picking a program?

2. Why did you apply to the schools you did or choose to go to the one you are attending?

3. Are you in an online program or would you consider getting your degree from an online program?

4. How much does the cost of the program matter to you?

5. If you are already in a program, what do you consider to be the greatest strengths and weaknesses?

I'm at Emory and also considered UNC - Chapel Hill (among other schools outside of the Southeast).

1. One of the most important decision considerations for me was the likelihood of landing a decent job afterward.

2. I matriculated at Emory due to the great work placement opportunities in Atlanta, strong national ranking, and aid package offered. Plus, I enjoy being in the South.

3. Don't know much about online programs.

4. Cost matters a lot to me. Most people don't go into this field in order to make tons of money.

5. Greatest strength of my program is the emphasis on work study. Greatest weakness is the quality of in-class instruction. But by no means are these sentiments shared by all my peers. Many of them feel like they've learned a lot from the classes. Indeed, some departments have been much better than others, but I'd prefer share critiques over private message.
