Maryland Temporary Driving Permission

Hello everyone!

I'll be attending UMD this fall and a relative of mine will give me a car to drive to the university. I'm from outside the US with a J-1 status.

I got my DL from my country. I would like to know if I could drive with it, or if there is any temporary permission that I could get until I get the official DL from MD.
