Profile evaluation request. PhD Comparative Literature/South Asia Studies.

Recommended Posts

Hello

I want to apply to the PhD programs in Comparative Literature. Since, I am an international applicant from India, I wanted to know if I stand any realistic chance of getting through any University.

I did my B.A. in English Literature and am currently doing MA in Comparative Literature. My Undergrad score is Upper Second Class (55%) and I hope to do well in MA. I am fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali and have a reading knowledge of Urdu. I am also currently learning French. I have work experience with an English newspaper and the national television channel (researching for literary programs.) My research interests are Indian literature, problems of gender and the politics of translation and identity.

I plan to take the GRE and TOEFL next year.

I wanted to know if, with a background like mine, I stand any chance of being admitted into any of the PhD programs in Comp. Lit. or South Asia Studies. If yes, which Universities should I apply to?

Thank you

I would say you have a fine chance. I just posted this in another thread, but my advice is to put together your best application, apply, and see what happens. Every application season is so different and many programs are so competitive that it's too tough to gauge your chances.

Good luck!
