circe Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Hi, Just wished to know if anybody here applied to/got an admit from the theory groups (especially in Complexity/Quantum Computing) at MIT or Berkeley? It would also be nice if somebody could give me some idea of how selective the theory groups at these places are. Regards, circe
aska Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 at Berkeley this year was very competitive for two reasons: 1) Too many came last year. They admitted 10 and 7 came. 2) Budget cut. (no surprise)
gatech Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 This year only 3 people are admitted in complexity theory at UCB.
circe Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 Hi gatech and aska, Thanks for your replies! So are any of you going to the Theory groups at MIT or Berkeley? I know this is asking for too much, but it'd be great if you post your profiles. Also I would very much like to know the source of info about Berkeley. Thanks! Thanks again, Circe.
circe Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 Hi yuio932o, The last post does not seem pertinent to the discussion, so I am flagging it. Regards, Circe
gatech Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 One of my senior at UCB working in theory told me that. Nopes I couldn't make it to UCB
circe Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Hi, Looks like UCB is quite selective. It would be nice if anybody could share some information about MIT also. Regards, Circe @gatech: Thanks for all the information! --circe
ZhongXiang Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 If only I could see Papadimitriou...I'm a big fan of him. *Sigh*
GraduateSchoolNut Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 How come this post manages to stay at the top of the board even other threads are more current?
circe Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Hi GradSchoolNut, Because it was started by Circe the Sorceress  (But really because I was trying out options and ended up marking it as sticky.) Regards, Circe.
