Communication between schools during process

Hi everyone,

I am a French undergrad thinking of applying for next fall in one of America's top graduate schools in physics. I got a pretty good GPA and have done some good research work at Harvard and Stanford during summers. I was wondering if schools communicated during application process. For example, if I apply to Harvard, will the commissions contact my school in France to ask about informations (am I a good student, do I behave properly, transcript verification...) or do the Graduate Schools don't contact the previous schools the student has been to?

when u apply, u provide them with the contact information of 3 people for the recommendations, these people are usually professors who know you well.
