blubb Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Hi, since an important criterion for MBA programs is the name of the company I was working for: What companies (especially in IT since I'm an engineer) will raise my chance for an MBA admission? Is there a way to find out, where alumni of popular programs were working at before admission? Thanks
gallatinrf Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) In IT? The usual 'sexy' suspects: Google, Facebook, Apple, Twitter, Microsoft, Amazon, (maybe) IBM, Intel, Dell. Or perhaps better yet, go to one of the IT consulting firms such as Accenture, Deloitte But if we're not talking about IT specifically, then the usual suspects by far would be the major strategy firms (e.g. McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Booz), investment banks, VC/PE, hedge funds. Such is the type of student that tends to populates HBS. For example, of the 919 students in the HBS MBA class of 2014, a whopping 84 of them - or nearly 10% - have prior work experience at McKinsey. That's significantly more than the number who came from Google (22), Microsoft (10), Apple (7), IBM (9), Facebook (3), Dell (3), HP (4), Intel (9), Amazon (4) combined.
