Guest Gnome Chomsky Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I have mixed feelings about this school and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about them. For one, I really like the courses they offer. The courses seem to cover a wide range of general and specific linguistics topics, more so than most universities I've seen. They have a concentration in structure of language that really interests me because there are quite a few logic courses offered. Now, there are a few things that make me uncertain. For one, I've never heard of them before and I never see them on any rankings and never hear anyone who has thought of applying there. Two, they seem to really not require much of anything to apply. All it said was something along the lines of "good grades in a relevant field." I didn't see any mention of GRE, writing/research sample, or even letters of recommendations. Three, they don't seem to have an application deadline. I assume this means it's a rolling deadline. Actually, I learned this from the universities general admissions page because the linguistics department didn't seem to list anything specific to the department. And last, MA linguistic students are not allowed to do a thesis. They must do a Plan B, which is a 3-credit essay or experiment. The school does offer a Plan A full thesis, but linguistics students must do Plan B. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any information or personal experience they could share.
