JJ6102 Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 How important are the GRE scores? I recently took them in June, and I did not do so well. However, I have a high GPA and research experience. I am also running my own study this year. I just do not think I can afford to take them again and pay for my applications on top of it.
emmm Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I have heard that some places will not look at applications where GRE scores are below 80th percentile. Any program may have its own cutoffs. There is no way to tell....
Willows Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 It depends on where you apply and what your program is, I think.
bigant Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I think the scores have to be average at the very least, because you can then make up in other areas. With a low score, the job becomes that much more difficult, unless you can prove genius levels of achievement that over-rides everything else.
iowaguy Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Some programs have cutoffs, under that percentile your application goes in the trash. 80th percentile cutoff is common at higher-level schools, from what I'm told by a professor buddy of mine...
