arosa Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 If I am hoping to be able to work as a LLP after I get a Masters Degree what degrees can take me down that path? As far as I have understood you just have to have a Masters in Psychology, but does that have to be General Psychology or Clinical Psychology? Or could it be in Counseling Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or Developmental Psychology? Thanks for the feedback?
clin_psych_or_bust Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 What state would you want to work in? Only some states allow a limited license, and even with that you'd have to be supervised by a LP. (Michigan has a bill in legislation about LLPs being able to call them selves "psychotherapists" and work unsupervised) Others, allow those with a masters in counseling to get licensed as a licensed professional counselor, and they are able to work unsupervised, but aren't able to perform assessments.
