Josephpuzzler Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I am so serious on a topic and I am not been able to catch the conclusion yet. That's so embarrassing! I wanted more information and true info. for Higher Education Through Open and Distance Learning. So I did research and found some books, I got the information but there were no reviews of anyone, so again got confused. I am listing the books I read- 1) Why Distance Learning? by- Gary A. Berg 2) Higher Education Through Open and Distance Learning. by- Keith Harry 3) Open and Distance Learning in Developing Countries. by- H. Perraton So can anyone tell me the real story and help me out??? Will the Distance Learning bring bright days for higher education???
ladybug3 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 I don't know exactly what you're researching for, but I am surprised you have not looked into academic journals. Try The International Journal of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning; The American Journal of Distance Education; The Canadian Journal of Learning and Technology; The European Journal of Open and Distance Learning; and The International Journal of E-Learning to start. You should find lots of articles on distance education within those journals and I am sure many of them are qualitative (or tell some form of a story from the subject's perspective). If there's a specific question you're looking into or you're trying to decide if distance education is for you, feel free to message me. I am in a mixed program that includes both in class courses and online courses. Most part time students take only distance courses while most full time students (myself) take both.
hitomimay Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I'm doing similar research, but through a different approach. You can consider Innovations in Higher Education, WHY there is a need for distance learning...etc. I'd start with "Reinventing Higher Education" by Bed Wildavsky, Andrew Kelly and Kevin Carey. It is a collection of academic articles related to the topic. Hope that helps.
