audiologyapplicant Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I'm applying for Clinical Audiology programs at 8 schools. I have two profs who I feel will write me really good letters because I've worked with them in their research labs/did well in their classes. For my third letter, I really want to ask this other professor who I had for an anatomy of the auditory system class last fall because she is really what sparked my interest in the field. I'm not sure if she'd remember me though because it was 1) a large class and 2) was kind of long ago. I did really well in the class though and really loved it. I'm considering asking her if she wants to meet and telling her that her class is really what sparked an interest in audiology and I'd love it if she would write me a rec, but I don't know if this would seem like I was desperate.
MyWorkIsDone Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 To be honest it doesn't sound like she knows you very well, and that might make it difficult for her to add personal details about you (which from what I've heard is what the admissions officials really want to see). BUT I definitely don't see any harm in meeting with her and letting her know how much you enjoyed the class and how it impacted you. You may find that you really connect with her, and that she would be a good recommender after all!
