octopussongs Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 So, I'm hoping some others are wondering about this... My cumm. GPA isn't that great, enough to meet the mins. but you know...but my last two years and my major GPA are competitive. I know every program is diff. but how much influence do you think a good major GPA can have?
moody Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Some... but the admissions committee will probably look at your grades in specific courses. If the courses that are pulling down your cumm. GPA are completely unrelated to your desired program, then they will likely be viewed as excusable (e.g., organic chemistry if you're an anthropology major). If the problematic courses are closely related, however, it will be harder for them to overlook.
octopussongs Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 That's true. They are thankfully unrelated to my field of anthropology. General chemistry and bio series freshman year. I'm still thankful in a way I took them bc though they were super challenging I still learned some basic science which made learning bioanth a breeze.
