Media/Sound/Urban Studies

I’m applying to phd programs this fall with an interest in sound-based media, electronic music & urbanism since the 1950s in Japan and Germany. I’m applying to:

UCSB film & media studies

Brown Modern Culture & Media

Maybe: Buffalo Media Studies (but it seems very practice based) & UCSD

I’m not familiar at all with research being done in asian/ cultural /urban studies departments so I thought perhaps someone might recommend a faculty or department that specializes in these areas - thanks!
