Lauren D Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I'm currently looking into Higher Education and Student Affairs programs. I'm contemplating applying to: UConn, Penn State, Michigan State, UF, Florida International, and maybe NYU. I was wondering if anyone had a perspective regarding any of these schools (or others on the East Coast) and what type of things are offered to help offset the cost, such as graduate assistantships, tuition remission, or maybe even scholarships. More information regarding these schools are any others would be really helpful and greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Silas Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 It's all different depending on the program, but I know UConn, Michigan State, and Penn State, at least, all offer graduate assistantships to (at least most if not all) grad students in the program. NYU has some assistantships, and I'm sure UF and Florida International offer similar options. Most HESA programs *do* have assistantships, because there's very little point in getting the degree if you don't also have work experience--so unless the program is designed to be part-time while you are working full-time in a student affairs-related job, most of them will have assistantships available. You should be able to find out more specific things about each program on their websites. DanMcD 1
