Porridge Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I am applying as an International. Application sent. Yay! I went back to the site yesterday and noticed new documentation sections. These were clearly added in the last week. "All accepted international applicants must document their ability to meet all educational and living expenses for the entire period of their intended study before this university can issue a Certificate of Visa Eligibility (Form I-20 or DS-2019). This form can be downloaded from the following webpage: http://wings.buffalo.edu/intled/admissions/FFSGR2013.pdf" "Admitted International students must submit original bank statements or documents from financial supporting agency with English translation for the minimum required of first year of study." I know this is self-explanatory. I'm a bit confused as to why this is on my application. Someone assure me that the above documentation is required only in the event that I am offered an admission.
RiseofthePhoenix Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Depends on how you plan to pay for your schooling. If you are dependent on funding from your program, you need to call the department or the grad school and tell them so. In most cases, all they need you to fill out is the signature and date section until a decision is made. But make sure you call and ask. Good luck!
Porridge Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 Thanks, it's just so frustrating because the application was due yesterday.
RiseofthePhoenix Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I think SUNY automatically considers all incoming phd students for funding. In any case, whoever's handling the application files will probably contact you if there is anything missing. What major area are you applying to?
Porridge Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 English. Yeah, we are automatically considered. I've been reading the ISSS information and it seems as if this information is required only in the event that I receive an offer.
Porridge Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 Thank you for your kind responses. The process is very confusing!
