BeastMode Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Hey all. I am applying to several Organizational/Industrial Psychology programs for the upcoming fall semester. One big thing that I've noticed, however, is that these programs are quite rare in California. So far I am applying to San Jose State, SF State, SB State (I left out Sac State because I don't have the time to take the psych subject test). For anyone who is familiar with these programs, are there any other schools in CA (preferably bay area) who offer a master's in I/O psych? Also I was wondering exactly how competitive the aforementioned programs are. My undergrad GPA was 3.73 (I majored in psych); I have a year of research assistant experience in a lab; I have club marketing experience and 4 months of full-time work experience on my resume as well. I haven't taken the GRE yet (I will in a few weeks) but I suspect that I will do pretty well (at least 150 on each). What do you guys think are my chances? Does the prestige of your undergraduate university hold much weight in these decisions? In my personal statement I want to also mention some research that a specific professor is doing at each university. I would like to contact one of the faculty members, but I'm not sure what I should say or how I should contact them (via phone, e-mail, in-person). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
