pastiglia Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Most of my applications are not due until mid January, but I have a few that have to be mailed out by the first week, and I just have some last minutes questions/concerns for POIs and Grad Program Directors. Would it be rude to try and get in touch with them now? I have already made contact, interviewed, telephoned, etc with several of them all the way back in September, but I just recently discovered some professors with whom I would be very interested in taking grad seminars, even if they are the same person as my POIs. I am not so much worried about not getting a response, considering the busy time of year, as a I am about the whole etiquette regarding emailing people at the end of December. Any suggestions/input would be very much appreciated! Thank you all and happy holidays!
pastiglia Posted December 27, 2012 Author Posted December 27, 2012 I meant to write, *"even if they're not the same person as my POIs." sorry about that, now the sentence makes more sense.
asdf123 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I'd say wait until after the holidays -- if faculty are checking their emails over break, they're likely just scanning through for really important or time sensitive correspondence -- your message is likely to get lost in the shuffle. The best time to reach out is the end of the first week/beginning of the second week back. asdf123 1
