Kaye Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Hi So i'm going borderline insane waiting for any word from graduate schools. My first application was due on December 1st. Selected applicants will be invited to an on-campus interview, which takes place during the first week of February... which is less than a month away. There is only 1 post on on the 'results' page for this particular program. It's from two years ago and the applicant found out on 1/17. Today is only 1/9.... BUT, the application was due 12/15 during that year, and 12/1 for this year. So theoretically, if it takes the same amount of time to review the applications, I should have heard back yet.... right? Is it too early to assume that I wasn't selected for an interview because I haven't heard back yet? How long should I wait before calling and asking? Yep, i'm definitely starting to go crazy.
ere08 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 What kind of program are you applying to? I'm going a little nuts myself, but its still early. My apps were due on the 1st as well and my inbox is as quiet as a sepulcher.
RubyBright Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 How long should I wait before calling and asking? I don't think it's unreasonable to call and politely ask when they will be sending out invites. People do have jobs and school to plan around - not to mention making transportation plans - so it's not crazy to want to have a basic timeline in mind. Just try to keep the desperation out of your voice.
NeuroTU Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I emailed the dept secretary of 2 school's the minute I heard multiple people had been notified. Both responded in the hour, one good news one bad. I don't think its harmful. Email them though, not the head of program.
