ZacharyObama Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Transcripts sent two months ahead of deadline, checks deposited, transcripts lost. Waiting to hear how this will effect scholarship eligibility? Argghhh. Anyone else have an admissions office lose/not receive documents?
ZacharyObama Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 And they found them. Thank You Jeebus!
amlobo Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I had one program contact me to say they were missing a transcript from my undergrad. I was a bit confused because I had sent transcripts from all 4 of my schools (undergrad, 2 summer programs, grad)... in the same large envelope. After I followed up to make sure it was all they were missing, they miraculously found it. I kind of just imagine that at grad admissions offices there is some room full of bags of envelopes, like Santa gets... lol...
ZacharyObama Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Must be - I'm actually kinda surprised that by and large these processes don't seem to be more computerized. I think grad-school admissions programs are still running on software from 2002 or something. Oh well, I suppose it keeps the Postal Service in business.
amlobo Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I also wonder why, for most apps, I had to upload scanned copies of transcripts AND submit hard copies. I'm sure it's to avoid "fraudulent changes" to scanned transcripts or something, but I like the universities that only check your hard copy transcript if you are admitted.

I used to work in an Admissions office and it really is sort of like that. Seriously. Especially on a deadline day, qué horor! Ususally a lot of people will open mail, and the person that puts in in your file isn't necessarily the person that marks it into the system.. stuff like that. So when stuff is 'lost' it's usually 'found' in the same place, it just missed being marked or other human error. And that's for the apps that come all together! Loose credentials is a whole other nightmare. ZacharyObama 1
