Jinxing myself by making travel plans in February?

I'd love some opinions here. My husband wants to rent a cabin for my birthday the weekend of Feb 1-3. He's been amazing through the application process and been awesome dealing with the possibility of moving somewhere unknown and I know he's excited about going away for a weekend (as am I). I have yet to hear from 9 schools, although several have sent invites so I'm probably just waiting on rejections from those. Anyway, when do you think I'm safe-ish to book this trip? I'm sure there are occasional last minute invites, but with travel factored in I can't imagine they're all that often. If I got an interview, I'd go but would not be able to get the money back on the cabin. Any thoughts?

I think it's late enough that you probably won't get an invite for that weekend. I suppose you can check the schools' websites and see if their interview weekends overlap with your trip.

Thanks! I didn't realize so many schools had added dates to their websites. Maybe it'll be like how if you clean your car it rains. I'll book a trip and get an interview ;)

Edit: Screw it, I'm going on vacation! Take that grad school apps and subsequent neuroses!

Schools appreciate the fact that their applicants have other commitments like jobs, family, etc, so if you are only going to be away one weekend in Feb, it's easy enough to reschedule. It could be a problem only if you will be away for a really long period of time, without internet access! But a weekend getaway is probably a great idea, especially in the middle of the stressful application response season!

Right after getting my Duke rejection today I got an email today from the school I attend and that I've been "unofficially" told I have an interview at letting me know their interview weekend is the same freaking weekend as the trip I just booked. Looks like I'll have to ask them to reschedule because I'm still much happier having a weekend away to look forward to! Maybe if I make plans for UCSDs interview weekend I'll get a call from them
