a question about CV

As an International student I do not quite understand what experiences can be called research assistant. I once participated in a professor's research and did some work together with his graduates. He did not give me any title and few undergraduates would participate in professors' research in my college, so I have no idea whether I can list this experience as a research assistant.

You may want to check with the professor to see if he would call you a 'research assistant'..I've had a few research opportunities with my professors in college and I was RA on payroll...I don't know what else you would call this position, perhaps just 'researcher'

If you were paid, ask your professor/department what your title was.  If you were not paid, call yourself a "Research Volunteer for Professor X" and list the position in the volunteer or service section of your cv.
