Every morning I wake up and hope for an acceptance email, dammit! Just one and I will be able to relax while waiting for the others.

Being in Hawai'i that is actually a very likely scenario too. 5 hours behind the east coast  B)

Stockholm, Sweden is not more fun. I have to wake up to an empty inbox, work 8 hours and then when it's time to go home; people start waking up on the east coast. Those working hours are uuuh

Losing yourself whilst getting disowned by the world in CIV4

I miss Civ4 so much--Civ5 just doesn't have the same charm. Europa Universalis III is another great strategy game to lose yourself in.

Ahahah!

I love this thread!

If you're looking for a good, free way to get distracted, League of Legends is pretty fun and addictive.

Maybe TOO addictive actually.

I'll need to stop if I get in a PhD program :-)

I haven't played in about a year but Team Fortress 2 is free for download and a lot of fun if you like multiplayer fps games.

Just got an email from Northwestern University...[heart skips a beat]...'s Medill School of Journalism. Some random brochure. Time to start up a new game...

I got that same email. In the past two weeks, I've unsubscribed to almost everything. I've checked my spam folder more in the past seven days than I had previously checked it in the past seven years.

I find stories to be a nice escape from the woes of waiting. I've compiled a list of literary fiction to read before starting grad school, since time during will be scarce. Right now, I'm diggin White Teeth by Zadie Smith.

And I'm taking suggestions.

The West Wing is on Netflix?

I also love spending time procrastinating by playing nerdy geography games at Sporcle. I've taught myself all of the countries in the world and all of the capitals of the world this way.

Sporcle is a staple in our household...  :)

Ha! I played with the Sporcle geography games so much last year while I was waiting. I loved it so much I offered a few extra credit points to my undergrads when we were doing geography/globalization topics...  ;)

I've been reading George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series and some Robert Heinlen books. All of which I recommend, particularly Heinlen's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

I also decided to pick Starcraft 2 back up  :o This will definitely have to stop if/when I get into a program.
