renergy Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 At the forefront my research interest are in Energy and Thermo-fluids: alternative fuels and renewable energy, sustainable energy, and fuel cells. I am interested to apply for the graduate program, MS in Mechanical Engineering, at your university. I did some research and came out with xx University as a best suited for my interest and requirements. As a student of undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, xx University, I had the opportunity to understand and work on various areas of mechanical engineering. One particular area for which I developed a profound interest is alternative fuels and renewable energy. My interest in this field sparked, when I did my first year research project on Design and Fabrication of direct natural convection solar dryer for apples, later I continued doing research on renewable energy in my second year and in my final year. I am passionate about renewable, therefore, I want to continue doing research on renewables in my graduate study and in my PhD. I envision myself as a leading researcher, scientist in the field of alternative fuels and renewable energy and will work in the research organization such as Sordia National laboratory, National Renewable Energy laboratories, etc. Throughout my four year undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering at xx University, I involved in many projects including three major researches on renewable energy, one in automobile and numerous other mini-projects on different area of mechanical engineering. I have also done one independent research study on fuel cells. My first research project on renewable energy was on Design and fabrication of direct natural convection solar dryer for apples, the research mainly involved in using locally available resources for building the solar dryer without compromising the efficiency, and for reducing the cost of fabrication. The purpose was to make it available in the rural areas of Nepal for reducing damage of apples. The design computation was done using MS excel and different design considerations and design procedure were used. My second research project was on pelton bucket, Pressure distribution at inner surface of selected pelton buckets. The research was carried out doing the detail experimental analysis of the pressure distribution of four different pelton buckets. The bucket with the uniform pressure distribution was selected and their profile was assessed. Different pressure point were made on the bucket, the trick of finding the pressure was the finding the height of the water level on that pressure point. My third research project was on Automobile, assessment of automobile workshop in context to xx University, the research includes the finding the best automobile layout for the workshop that will be built in xx University for academic and lab purposes. My final year research project was on renewable energy, Adaptation of producer gas for 5kw single cylinder diesel engine. The research was mainly focused on design and fabrication of downdraft gasifier, and testing of producer gas on 5kw single cylinder diesel engine. The design of gasifier was done on the basis of the 5kw diesel engine, and the biomass used. We found considerable reduction in diesel consumption. To be concrete it was 12 to 20% reduction under load and no load condition. Beside this major research projects, I have done several other mini-projects during my undergraduate course work. Mini-projects includes folding chair mechanism, this was the mechanical folding chair using 4-bar mechanism, and nut & bolts, hydraulic crane, I actually fabricated using hydraulic jack and later surprised when I saw the exact same was already built by somebody else and is already in use. Furthermore I have done three business plans on Plumbing, Movie Theater, and Automobile workshop. I have done 4 research project presentation, and 3 times project exhibitor. I was two time football tournament organizer and many time winners in football tournament. Despite the many benefits of renewable energy, there are still many issues that need to be addressed. The problem with the renewable energy technology is, comparatively (with conventional energy) low efficiency and low energy yields, and high costs per unit production of energy. However, I believe that renewable energy will become more established and will prove to be future energy panacea. We will someday use energy wastefully because of the surplus energy generated through renewables. Everyday living in more than 12 hours of electricity power cuts and wait for days for the turn of LPG cylinder(used for cooking purposes), motivates me more to study in renewables and I dream someday there will be no more power cuts, no more waiting game for the LPG cylinder, there will only be very cheap energy. I want to be part of this great community of researchers who are working day and night improving efficiency and overall energy yields. My research objective is, improving efficiency and overall energy yields. I believe that I have strong research experience and strong foundation of alternative/renewable energy to succeed in graduate program in Mechanical engineering domain. Furthermore, I am hardworking, perseverant and passionate about renewables. I have this yearn for studying more on renewables and want to broaden my knowledge and skills on renewable energy. Therefore, I wish to earn the master’s degree in mechanical engineering. I intend to pursue a career as a researcher, scientist in research organization in mechanical engineering domain. I have applied to your university because of its excellent research and after my graduate study i will like to take along with knowledge and skills, network of strong faculty, professors, and colleagues. I am determined to pursue my academic and professional ambitions with complete faith and dedication. By applying to your graduate program, I have taken the right step. I am thankful for your consideration of my candidature.
vish22 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Nice S.O.P. man, your determination is quite evident. And dang man,you used my lines at the end!!!!
uromastyx Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 There are scores of grammatical issues here. Do you have someone that can read it thoroughly for you?
