boomer Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Stupid question, but do they really take this seriously? Especially when they say awards will be given based on academic and professional excellence and prospect for success. I mean, what is the weight of essays in the decisions? Thanks! I'm just getting tired of answering, "what is your career plans?" "what is your motivation?" etc., especially when I'm already in my fifth year of PhD.
uromastyx Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Tell me about it! I had to write a couple that basically asked me to put my CV in prose. Just look at the dang CV!!!! That being said, I would take it seriously. A departmental application request wouldn't exist if they didn't find it in some way relevant.
