eisfeuer Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Chemical Engineering class of 13', Major GPA 3.78-ish (I got A's in every class except labs cuz I was lazy lol) Mathematics minor, GPA 3.964 I go to a top UC (aka university of california) GRE Q169, V164, AW 3.5 -Good(?) things: A lot of pure maths classes (abstract algebra, real analysis, complex analysis, advanced linear algebra, number theory) -Bad things: I feel that I don't have enough research experience. Haven't published anything. One summer research in Civil Engr Dept at UC Berkeley, project was on computational quantum mechanics, though didn't get enough tangible results to publish anything 2 projects in the mathematics department for seminar classes that are aimed to get students started in doing research, but do not count as actual research. One was on the Piola-Kirchoff stress models stuff like that. The other was on Chvatal-Erdos theorem in Graph Theory. Professors writing my letter of rec are: a chemE professor with whom I took 2 chemE classes and got A's; my summer research advisor at UCB; an applied maths professor with whom I did the Piola Kirchoff stress project. Though I have no idea how good/bad those letters are since I haven't read them. Applying to: -MIT Mechanical Engineering MS -Caltech Mechanical Engineering PhD -UCSD Mechanical Engineering PhD -UC Berkely Chemical Engineering PhD -UCLA Chemical Engineering PhD -U of Mich Ann Arbor Chemical Engineering PhD Any thoughts/comments/infos will be greatly appreciated.
