Contacting Prof. under whom I've been offered RAship

Hi guys,

Need some advice. I've been offered an admit in my #2 choice school, with an RAship under my preferred advisor (as notified to me by the graduate school). I am yet to hear from my #1 school. Should I write to the Prof. I've been offered RAship under. I wanted to know what the protocol is here.

Go for it. It's fine to email just to say that you've been offered and place and are interested in working for him, asking a couple of questions about his group/research if you have them. I think in general professors understand that you might want more information before committing to a program. If he responds in a positive and enthusiastic manner about the possibility of you working for him...well, that's a very good thing.
