To Psychology and Marketing grad students from a prospective undergrad in Canada

Hi,

I am Canadian studying overseas. I am completing the International Baccalaureate Diploma (HS) and have applied to a handful of unis in Ontario and Quebec (Canada) to a few different programs: Arts (BAHonours Psychology), Social Sciences (BA Psychology or MOS Consumer Behavior), BComm Marketing but also Life Sciences (BSc in Psychology).

While I'm still waiting to hear from every university I have applied to, I have already been accepted to Western Ontario (Soc. Sciences), to Queen's Arts Honours and to Carleton BComm Marketing co-op.

Burning questions:

1. Which undergrad opens more doors in terms of both grad school options and work? A BAH Psychology, a BSc Psychology or a BCommerce?

What if I realize I am not fit for clinical psy but good enough in the BAH Psychology with all the statistics courses, can I then switch to a Business related career such as Marketing/Consumer behavior? Can I even get into an MBA with a BAH in Psy if I take I/O Psy or Econ courses?! Can I switch to Business with a BSc in Psychology? Can I switch to Psychology from a BComm?

2.  Do you know of anybody who was accepted to a BAHonours in Psychology and then switched to a BSc.in Psychology at the same school?

I did not do Grade 11/12 Chem and Physics because I was locked in my IB Diploma choices and took advanced Bio, Math and Business. So, for some unis I could not apply to a BSc because they asked for Chem and/or Physics as prerequisites. So, I applied to the Arts strand instead. In other unis, Psychology was part of Social Sciences, so I applied without problems while in other unis (such as UofT and McMaster), I was able to apply to a BSc in Psychology because it was part of the Life Sciences program and for Psy, they only asked for Math and Bio as prerequisites.

3. Do you know of anybody who did a BAHonours in Psychology and then went on to do a Master's of Science in Psychology?

At Queen's, one of my favorite unis, I was accepted to do a BAHonours but at the grad level, they only offer a MSc. in Psychology connected to a PhD.

4. Which school? Pros and cons.

- Queen's BAH Psychology or  Western BA Social Sciences (either Psychology or MOS with consumer behavior)?

- Carleton  BComm Marketing with co-op or Concordia JMSB with Marketing major and Human Resources minor and co-op option?

- McMaster Life Sciences with Psychology or UofT Scarborough (same)?

- Bachelor in Psychology or BComm in Marketing? (My lowerst grade in IB Calculus is a C+  this year with an overall B in IB SL Math. I do not consider myself a Math person, that's why I am inclined to look at the social, psychological, cultural aspects of Business, knowing that Marketing has those components. But BComm is all Math at the core, isn't it? Will I even survive a competitive BComm school? And if it's not competitive in Comm, then what's the point?)

Sorry, couldn't make it any shorter. Thank you in advanced for your informed advise or connected thoughts!
