Rhode Island College MSW Anyone?

I applied to Rhode Island College and was accepted today.  It was the last school I applied to, so it's funny to me that they were the first to let me know their decision.  I'm still waiting to hear back from a number of other schools though (in addition to financial aid) before I make any decision.  Hope you hear good news soon too!

Sure!  They called me to let me know the news.  I have an A- average GPA and I already have a master's degree where I did well in the program with strong recommendations.  My sw experience is mainly in research and volunteer work, though I have also worked in non-profit settings for about 7 years.  I wasn't able to make it to their application sessions so I'm not sure what they were looking for in an applicant (whether it was academics or experience).  I will say that their admissions department was incredibly helpful in answering my questions.

What I am noticing about these programs though is that they are really open to working with you on your application and giving you insight into what they are looking for.  If (and i do mean if!) you were to not get in and this is the program you are most excited about - talk to them.  Ask them what they are looking for in a candidate and what experience they want you to bring to the table.  This program in particular had some of the best outreach to students in prepping them to apply, so I think they are a good bet to be really helpful.

However, I hope that you don't need to go that route because you get in!!  The good news is that they are starting to tell people so hopefully you hear good news soon.

I applied and have not heard back yet. Submitted application materials on 1/28, PT program.

FT or PT program?

I have been accepted to BU.

I applied to the full time program on 1/31 and was assured that my materials were complete.

Congrats on being accepted to BU! And hopefully we will hear back soon :)

Good luck to you too!  Let me know when you hear.
