assistantship consulting

Hi everyone

I've been accepted for PhD in an engineering program in one of the top American universities. I'm an international student and look for some funding opportunities. The acceptance notification says that I have to consult with the department I'll attend directly asking about any assistantship or other means of funding.

Actually I don't know how to write that email. Is there a formal way to do it ? I don't how to make it a positive support and the other way around.

I hope you can give me some tips about this
