fmm Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Hey guys, I am wondering whether CMU HCII sent out all their offers, since I see several posts about offers and rejections already. I have not heard back any news yet. Thanks! sangww, Mosabstrakt and fmm 3
Mosabstrakt Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Hey there, I've applied too but I haven't heard anything back either. It seems the posts about offers or rejections are for other cmu departments. I haven't seen any for hcii (the only post might just be a troll).
Zymphonic Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Not just one, but three people posted in results they were accepted. One on the 12th via phone and two on the 13th via e-mail. Only one poster has been rejected. This came via e-mail on the 22nd. I'm guessing either we applied to work in different areas and processing of our apps has been delayed, we are on an informal waiting list, or (most likely) we have been silently rejected. Still, don't lose faith! And hopefully y'all are receiving HCI Ph.D. offers from other fine programs.
Mosabstrakt Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) Gotcha, I see it now. It's bee a few days since I've checked up on things. I wonder what the wait is (one would assume rejections would be the easiest to push through). Which area(s) did you all apply for? I applied to Learning Sciences and the Madeira Program. Zymphonic Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Human Assistance (I targeted three labs specifically, but all are under this domain)
fmm Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 I have sent email to admission coordinator days ago inquiring the status but have not got any replies. No way to know whether it is a silent rejection or get waitlisted. By the way, does anyone known how many PhD students they accept each year?
fmm Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Same thing here. Rejection email arrived early morning.
