firefly85 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I posted this on the Bank forum, but thought I'd try putting it here too. I'm applying for a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship from one of the schools I got into. I'm wondering if anyone has applied for one and has advice. I have to write a statement of purpose (Another one!! Ack!) about how this language study (Italian in my case) will help me in my studies/career and fits into those plans. Has anyone here applied for one of these or knows someone who has? Getting one of these would definitely make grad school a lot more affordable!
alteregoista Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Hey, I don't know if this response is too late, but I've applied for a FLAS before and if I remember correctly I sort of used my regular SOP and just added a few paragraphs here and there to either explain how the language was/would have been important in the past and how the language will be an important of achieving the career/educational/intellectual goals for the future. If you use your regular SOP as a base, it makes it a little easier, I think. I hope this helps.
