socal Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I'm currently a PhD Sociology student at SUNY-Albany. I want to apply to another doctoral program because the program I'm in doesn't provide me with the resources that I need to study my specific area of interest (Race and Ethnic Relations, particularly w/Asians). I want apply to the UC schools and USC because they have the resources (including the large Asian population) that I need to conduct my studies. I'm wondering if I have a chance at any of these following schools. UC Irvine UC Riverside UC Santa Barbara UC Santa Cruz UC San Diego UCLA UC Merced (I'm thinking as a safety net) USC I'm on my way to finishing my MA in Sociology by the time I leave. This is my first year in and I've only finished 1 semester so far but here are a few of my credentials... For my undergrad: B.S. in Sociology Overall GPA: 3.49 SocGPA: 3.81 Minor in Mathematics Cum Laude Published an article with a professor, (I was third author... not much but something!) Presented at the preliminary ASA conference GRE: 1010 (350-verbal, 660-quantitative) -- I know this isn't my strongest area of the applications For my grad: Overall GPA: 3.53 (I could probably get my GPA up by the time I submit the applications) I'll have my MA in Sociology finished by time I leave. Presented at the ESS conference Let me know what you guys think?
