tadisaty Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Hello All, One of my friends has been accepted to Pharmacology and Toxicology program at a University in US. He was asked to let them know by March 5th if he was interested. While the Council of Graduate Schools resolution requires that the candidate should notify of his interest/acceptance of an offer by April 15th, they setup their own deadline. He got an interview offer on March 4th and then he requested the Program director for more time. Finally, they have decided not to keep the offer open anymore and his application for admission has been denied. I request all of you to please look into what could be done and whom to contact in case the program doesn't change their decision. Plz reply!
spacezeppelin Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Hello, I'm a bit confused. So he got an interview on March 4th but the deadline was March 5th? That doesnt really make any sense to me. Did they let him know he had been accepted DURING the interview? That would be a bit unusual. He had an official acceptance which they then revoked in one day? Honestly, there must be more information then that. Maybe he was a waitlist candidate and they needed an answer immediately if he wanted to get put on the list. That makes more sense to me, though it seems a bit early to be scrambling to fill a class. As far as who he can contact, I would say his best and only bet is to have a discussion with the department director. There will be no reasonable way to go over his/her head on this one. Your friend doesnt want to try and force himself into a department that doesnt want him to be there. It wouldnt be good for his academic career, even if he was successful. I'm sorry all that happened. It must be very upsetting to have an offer revoked. I think a calm discussion is only chance it has to be worked out. All that being said, he may not want to even go to a school that has such strange and unfair policies.
