sidneysamson Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Could someone give some insight on the differences between the two programs. I'm excited about attending either program but I haven't seen any significant differences between the two besides the fact that Berkeley's weather is way better than the cold of Madison, Wisconsin (I currently live in Madison so I'd know...).
bikingrules Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I guess it depends on what area of Statistics your are interested in, but Berkeley seems to have a much better reputation in most areas...
sidneysamson Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 I'm probably going to Berkeley in all honesty even though I really like Madison (as a town too). New experience and it's kind of hard to beat Berkeley...
5151 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Are you serious? I would say, among major stats areas, UCB is always better, ignoring the reputation itself. And its location might be better if you want to find job in industry such as IT/Bio
sidneysamson Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 What about quantitative finance? Thinking about that field as well.
pinnumberwrong Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 What about quantitative finance? Thinking about that field as well. what about it? Quantitative finance uses statistics but it's not considered an 'area' in statistics. quantnet.com has your answer.
