Getting it in writing

We are quickly approaching the April 15 deadline for decisions (at least in my field) and I have an offer from one of my two top choices (Georgetown), but the offer came as an unofficial email. I have been talking to the department, set up meetings for my visit date, etc, but still nothing in writing. When I inquired about getting the info on my assistantship, they said it needed to be approved by the graduate school. I am too nervous about this to turn down my other top choice, but time is running out. Should I contact the graduate school directly? Anyone else in this position?

I got my acceptance to my school over email and accepted over email. It's all official now, but I still haven't gotten the admit packet in the mail yet.
