Emailing the program (Cornell Theatre PhD - anyone?)?

It's April 1st, and I haven't heard from Cornell's PhD Theatre program. In the results search, notifications have varied really widely from mid-February to March 25th. I've been accepted to a couple of other schools, and I need to make a decision by April 15th. Is it a bad idea to email the department and ask if/when offers have been/will be sent out? Should I wait until the last minute? Has anyone heard from this department?
