How short is the shortlist?

Okay . . . so I'm on the shortlist for a TA. The letter did not indicate how many applicants were on th shortlist, but noted that there was a hope additional funding would become available in next few weeks. Does this seem like a lack of funding issue rather than having too many applicants? Is there a typical shortlist length?

You should ask the school how long the list is, because it probably varies quite a bit by school.
