Hey guys, So far I've been accepted to Josef Korbel at DU and Univ. of Chicago's CIR program. My focus is security studies. Lets just say that money is not an issue (even though it is, but put that aside for a min) what would you do? According to Foreign Policy Chicago ranks 9 and Denver 12. Denver has a two year international security program that is awesome on paper, but I don't know how they will play out academically and the prestige of the program. Chicago is more academically prestigious, but it is a one year M.A. and you only take 9 classes and three non-credit courses (workshops) and a thesis paper with the option to specialize in a particular area for second year. This second year is geared more for PhD prospects. At Chicago, you take courses from the Public Policy, Law, and Political Science schools (all ranking 8 in the nation for each category) and chances look great for me to get into their law school. If I went to Denver, I would take double the courses in subjects I'm interested in and it is a full APSIA member as opposed to Chicago which is only an affiliate member. Denver seems to be more practical for a career in the defense community and other sectors, but will the school and its name be worth it? I don't know, but I'm going nuts. What do you guys think? By the way, I'm still waiting for Gtwon MSFS and CPSS, HKS, SAIS, SIS, and Elliot.
