AnimalMother Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Hi all, I've recently been admitted to both UCSD and Georgia Tech for the computer science MS course. My interests lie in HPC/Systems and from what research I've done on both universities, they both seem pretty strong, with great faculty and research labs. My goal is to pursue a PhD and this is the main factor I'm considering in order to make my decision. Which of these colleges would be better if I'm to apply for a PhD afterwards? I also couldn't find any conclusive information on the intake statistics of either college. Which of them is more selective? Regarding aid, I heard that a TA is easier to obtain at UCSD and an RA is easier at GTech. Is this accurate? Any help would be great AnimalMother 1
jimmy_01 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Both have good CS programs and both are reputable universities....If your goal is a PhD, then see which university matches closest with your research interests... AnimalMother 1
MikKar Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Georgia Tech and U San Diego both have very strong programs in Computer Science. Aside maybe from the cost of tuition + living costs, there's nothing between them. You are best placed to know about this, but try picking the university whose program matches more closely with your research and possibly career ambitions. Congratulations on getting admitted in both programs by the way AnimalMother 1
