sunnygege Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Hey all, I am about to make a decision on where I should go. The deadline is so close but I still cannot decide. Can anybody give me some advice?! 1. Columbia: MA in Biomedical Informatics; 2. CMU: MS in Biotechnology Innovation and Computation; 3. USC: Computer Engineering; 4. UMich in Ann Arbor: Health Informatics. Many people advice to choose CMU or Columbia, since the program in CMU is under the school of computer science and Columbia University is good place. Though most master programs in CMU school of computer science can provide good job chances for students, I am just afraid that since the program in CMU is new and is about biotech, so I am not sure the job prospects are good. I have seen the curriculum of this program. There are some courses about computer and biology, and students spend most time on studying applications of computers in biotechnology industries and making industrial plans. For Columbia, I am also worrying about job prospects of the major biomedical informatics. It is an interdisciplinary subject about computer science and biomedical science. Anyway, these two programs are my top choices. It will be so appreciated if anyone can share some opinions on these programs with me, or give me some advice!! Thanks a lot!
